✨ what is the tarot?
tarot is a form of divination (more specifically, a form of cartomancy) that uses a deck of cards called a tarot deck. this deck holds 78 cards featuring 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana. each of these cards’ intricate wisdom synthesize with the human experience, telling a story through imagery, symbolism, esoterica, and intuition. the tarot helps us answer our own questions that are nested deep within our subconscious, by giving our inner-voice a stage to play on.
🔮 what does tarot ‘do’?
in my experience, tarot is a tool that thickens your comprehension of your life story and soul presence by building up the "how"s and the "why"s of your existence. this is done through interpreting the graphical and historical archetypes of the tarot cards' lessons, plus a teaspoon of intuition. what i l♡ve about tarot is that it encourages sovereignty, broadening, creativity, and deep healing within your life, your choices, and your thought processes - that is, if you can allow tarot’s intrinsic vulnerability in.
🃏 what is the fool’s journey?
also known as the hero’s journey, we follow a fool through the trials and tribulations of life, meeting various figures and archetypes who both help and hurt their journey. the fool is thrust into an adventure bigger than their skin, only to eventually conquer the adversities and return home, evolved and humbled.
this mythos has wandered around the human superconsciousness for centuries, retold hundreds of times in hundreds of cultures and historias. the tarot has its own fool’s journey in the major arcana, where we put ourselves in the shoes of the fool, a character of youthful eagerness and pure authenticity, ricocheting off of various struggles in order to strengthen their own inner-voice, resourcefulness, and values. carrying the number 0 (pure and limitless), the fool’s journey reminds us that what doesn’t break us makes us stronger, and that we all have the tenacity and magic to push through to our finish lines.
🌸 why does tarot matter?
because tarot helps people.
i struggle to find an answer more succinct than that. tarot is accessible, therapeutic, gentle, and healing. it gives weight and a voice to the experiences that lay deep within, sheltered by fear and comfort, allowing your truths to flow outwards, even the “ugly” ones. it brings people together, as we all seek counsel throughout life. to read tarot is to be welcomed into an ancient club of truth-seekers and storytellers. for me, tarot has always been about radical love, on all levels.
tarot is quite efficient at giving you some piping hot ginger root tea about the ins-and-outs of your soul-utions... but i like to offer a loving, heartfelt, beautiful strawberry-love teacake to intake alongside the spiritual blaze. the cards reflect consistent tropes that pop up again and again in the circle of life; my duty as your reader is to piece all of these moments together into one cohesive and detailed narrative, personalized for YOU. 💕.。.:*
